Preparing for a Painting Project

These are some of the questions that a painting contractor will need to know in order to assess your project:

  1. What is the size of the room(s)? House? Area to be painted?

  2. Is it furnished?

  3. What kind of flooring is in place? Will it be replaced also?

  4. How high are the ceilings?

  5. Are there crown mouldings or other decorative mouldings or built-ins in the room? If so, are they going to be painted?

  6. Are the ceilings to be painted also? If so, the same color as the walls?

  7. Is the new color many shades lighter or darker than the existing wall color?

  8. Is there any drywall or wall repair work that needs to be done prior to painting?

  9. Are the windows finished with drywall or are there window casings?

  10. Is the woodwork to be painted also? Baseboards, doors, windows
